NewsU2 Tower gets approvalOne of the world's most famous architects has been chosen to oversee the construction of The U2 Tower, reports ITN. Norman Foster, the brains behind the Gherkin in London and the Millau Viaduct in France, was selected by Dublin's Docklands Development Authority. He will now head-up the operation for the city's first ever skyscraper, which will reach a height of 120m and cost around 200 millions euros. Commissioned by Geranger Ltd, a consortium including the members of the Irish rock group, the tower will apparently feature an egg-shaped recording studio at its peak. Work on the landmark is expected to commence next year with a completion date scheduled for 2011. Prince snubs Michael Jackson? Prince has reportedly snubbed Michael Jackson's offer to join him on tour. The gloved one is said to have asked the purple one to open for him at a series of concerts designed to help revitalise his career. Prince declined the offer, saying that he already had plans for a tour of his own later in the year. The Sun reported that Jackson was recently overheard complaining about the snub at a birthday party for the Sultan of Brunei, where a partygoer remarked, "Michael seemed pretty upset about it. He said he'd approached Prince to see if he would like to work together, but Prince wasn't interested." This rejection comes on the heels of a snub from veteran producer Quincy Jones, who recently turned down the chance to work with Jackson on his forthcoming album, as previously reported. |
